Les Paul
He built his own turntable from car parts.
He converted his kitchen into a recording studio so his wife, Mary, could record vocals while doing the dishes.
He was the first person to engineer multi-track recording.
He crashed his car, destroyed his arm and had it permanently set in guitar-strumming position.
He also invented the electric guitar at age 13.
